What is a private supplier?

For an online seller, a private supplier is a sourcing or fulfilment partner you work with directly on your products and orders. You can discuss the exact item, price, preparation and delivery process with the people handling the work.

What can they do?

Depending on the team, a private supplier may find a product, arrange a sample, check quality, prepare packaging, hold stock or send orders to individual customers. Ask which services apply to your product. The label “private supplier” alone tells you none of the terms, minimums or safeguards.

Some partners work directly with factories. Others coordinate work across manufacturers, warehouses and shipping providers. What matters is knowing who will make and dispatch your item, and who will answer when an order needs changing.

How is this different from a marketplace listing?

A listing gives you a displayed product and price. A direct supplier conversation lets you confirm the exact specification, landed price, dispatch arrangement and order record before you sell. It may also let you discuss changes that a stock listing does not cover. Neither route guarantees a good outcome; check the offer and the people behind it.

What should you confirm first?

  • The exact product, variant and any changes you need.
  • Minimum order or stock commitment, including whether one customer order can ship at a time.
  • Product price, shipping cost, payment terms and the destination used for the quote.
  • Preparation time, delivery estimate, tracking and who handles a wrong or damaged order.

SupplierMafia lets buyers compare reviewed supplier profiles and keep quotes, messages, invoices and order files in one conversation. Supplier review is a starting point, not a guarantee for a particular product or order. Ask for current evidence and agree the terms before paying your supplier directly.
